A happy update!

Yesterday, my mum and I went for my two-week check-up with the surgeon, Mr Church. I must admit, going into the appointment I was anxious. The past two weeks have been mentally and physically tough, and to think I may not have made the desired progress was a worrying thought.
First, we got the stitches removed. After not seeing under the dressings for two weeks I had begun to imagine the worst. I was relieved to see there were just three small cuts, which are healing well. Mr Church was seemingly impressed with his handiwork! The cuts have been cleaned and re-dressed and these dressings are to stay on until the end of the week.
After running through a few exercises and testing out my mobility, Mr Church went on to say he was very happy with the progress made so far. The next milestone to hit is conquering the straight leg raise; once I am able to do this, I can then start to wean myself off my crutches, gradually bearing more and more weight onto the leg, until I am totally confident walking without the crutches.
On Monday, I can start to change around with my brace, no longer having it locked in the straight leg setting. Hopefully, this will allow my knee to get used to the motions of walking somewhat normally again (which is a huge step towards the end goal - running!)
Also, two more exercises have been added to my normal rehab routine. Both these involve bending the leg, gradually getting more and more range through the knee. it's exciting to see the progress I'm making. At the early stages, it felt virtually impossible to get any sort of bend in my knee, whereas now, my exercises are becoming more centered around those sort of movements.
Visible progression is SO rewarding!
I'm pleased with how this is going so far - and it's great to know that both mine and my family's hard efforts are being rewarded with results.
