This week has been a week of sheer amazement. It started on Sunday - when we finally got take the dressings off the wound. It is still healing well, and we suspect I will be left with minimal scarring.

On Monday we got to change my leg brace. Now, my leg has the freedom to bend up to 50 degrees flexion, rather than it being locked in the straight leg position like it has been for the past three weeks.

Throughout the week, my exercises have been progressing faster than any of us expected them to. I can now sit upright on a chair with my leg slightly bent to the floor, rather than always sitting with my leg elevated. This is great as it means I really am getting back into the swing of normal movement patterns.

Despite the massive muscle wastage I am experiencing, I am getting stronger by the day. Mr Church had set me "milestone targets" to hit in the first month after the surgery, and I'm proud to say I have hit all of these (with four days to spare!) As of this week I can do straight leg raises, and I am most excited to say I have taken my first steps without crutches - they were shaky, but they were steps nonetheless!

Next up for me in the "milestone targets" is walking confidently without crutches and altering my brace to allow more of a bend.

Also, please go to the newly added video section of my site to check out my progressions!
